Charlie Dent (PA), Ranking Member
 Charlie Dent was first elected to Congress in 2004, representing Pennsylvania’s 15th District in Eastern Pennsylvania.
As a member of the Committee on Homeland Security, Representative Dent serves as Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection. During the 111th Congress, Dent will develop and implement strategies to protect mass transit, rail, and other transportation networks against terrorist attacks.
Before serving in Congress, Dent served eight years in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and six years in the Pennsylvania Senate, where he was vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Emergency Preparedness and Veterans Affairs. Congressman Dent’s district includes Pennsylvania’s third-largest metropolitan area, the Lehigh Valley, and is home to many commuters who work in New York City or Philadelphia.
Jurisdiction: TSA; aviation security; mass transit and rail security; surface transportation security; critical infrastructure protection efforts at the Department; public-private partnerships to secure various sectors and infrastructure; protection of government assets; public-private advisory boards and councils at the Department; and efforts to catalogue the nation's critical resources and assets.
