King on lack of DHS Authorization bill
(April 9, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, called on Committee Democrats to draft the annual Authorization bill for the Department of Homeland Security. (March 31, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, again called on Congressional Democrats to consolidate oversight of DHS. The comments came during an interview with CQ Homeland Security and are being featured as part of an in-depth look at the relationship between Congress and DHS. Currently, the Department must respond to requests from 86 committees and subcommittees, despite the four year-old 9/11 Commission recommendation that Congress create a single point of oversight. King calls for passage of FISA
(Friday, March 7, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, called for House leaders to bring the bipartisan Senate-passed reform of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to the floor for debate. King reacts to increased violence against Border Patrol Agents
(Wednesday, February 27, 2008) - Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (NY), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, reacted to reports that attacks on Border Patrol Agents are not only increasing in number, but potentially becoming more deadly. In 2007 there were 600 more attacks reported than in 2004, and recently agents found a wire strung tightly between two poles, a booby trap meant to decapitate agents as they patrol on their ATVs.
